Democrats need radical course correction

The Dems have turned off the people who elected them—or enough of those voters to turn the results around. The corporate power display in DC has become even more extreme with corporate cronies benefiting from every issue facing the country. As a result the Dems have not solved any of the issues facing the country. It is always a corporate “solution” that benefits their donors first.

This is exactly what the public did not like about Bush. Open corruption. Pay to play politics in DC where those with connections benefit while everyone else suffers.

The Dems need a radical course correction after Obama’s first year. They need to make challenging corporate power THE issue of 2010 and show it by proposing legislation that would put big business interests in their place. Now that they know nothing will pass the 60 vote threshold they can stand strong and at least look like they stand for something.

Start with replacing Rahm Emanuel—he embodies corporate power as the biggest recipient of Wall Street cash when he was in Congress and former head of the [Democratic Leadership Council]. Change course and get on the right side of the elites vs. the people. The side they are on now, corporate elites, is not going to win them many elections.

  1. Successful presidents tend to govern from the center. I’d like to see both the dems and republicans move closer to moderation and common sense.
