Corbett says he’s ready to go to work on voter ID legislation

PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: Gov. Tom Corbett said this morning his office will “go to work” to write new legislation for a voter ID law one day after dropping his appeal on the previous law.

But he said he doesn’t expect the new law to be ready this year.

After a news conference to announce a task force on heroin and prescription drug abuse at the Allegheny County Courthouse, Mr. Corbett said he was happy Commonwealth Court upheld the state’s right to pass the law even if it ruled the state doesn’t have the proper programs in place to ensure all eligible voters can obtain a photo ID to vote… (more)
