Chrysler earns $507 million in 2Q, up 16%

USA TODAY: Chrysler reported Tuesday that it earned $507 million in the second quarter, up 16% from the same period a year ago.

Chrysler’s profit was strong enough that 69% of the profits of its Italian parent, Fiat, which also reported earnings Tuesday, came from North America, offsetting the economic downturn in Europe.

Chrysler, on its way back from a 2009 bankruptcy reorganization, has now seen positive net income now for eight straight quarters… (more)

EDITOR: Fiat’s has long been noted for its high style. Its newly designed sub-compact is an example. The low cost, sub-compact soft top is a masterpiece. Chrysler may well give Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota a run for their money in future years.
