Burning propane rail car in Rapho Twp. causing evacuation, Amtrak interruption

PENNLIVE – A rail car carrying propane in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County, has interrupted Amtrak service from Lancaster to Harrisburg and is causing evacuations.

The fire, which began around 10:30 a.m., is at the Lancaster Propane terminal, said a company spokeswoman. The train car is near Maibach Lane and East Main Street in Rapho Twp.

One person had suffered burns when the rail car caught fire, Randall Gockley, county director of emergency management told the Associated Press.

Gockley says about 60 people are being evacuated within a three-block radius of the fire, which is still burning at 12:20 pm. (more)
