Balanced, unbiased news story

That is a phrase that is hard to place in the same sentence as Lancaster Newspapers.

LNP, in recent years, has acted more as the marketing and PR arm of the local power base. Journalism (“The aggregating, writing, editing, and presenting of news or news articles for widespread distribution, typically in periodical print publications and broadcast news media, for the purpose of informing the audience”) has long since disappeared.

The ‘information’ that is presented in our local papers comes in two flavors: personal opinion of the writer or an article meant to persuade, NOT to inform. Neither of these fit the bill for a “balanced, unbiased news story”.

  1. From my experience – They just don’t report the news. There are many stories which unfold of huge significance which are just not covered at all.

  2. Anonymous, there are lots of web sites – including this one – that would be interested in the stories that are missed. Cover them, and mail them to Mr. Field, and I’m sure you’ll get a welcome response. (If you’d made that comment on my web site, I’d have suggested you submit them to ME, but saying that here seems like claim jumping.)
