Attorney General: Sister’s appointment to new post was decision of first deputy

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: …[Ellen] Granahan had been a member of the attorney general’s staff since 2008. In moving to the new post, however, she saw her annual salary jump from $69,771 to $83,423, a raiseof 19.6 percent.

Kane strenuously defended her sister’s promotion in an interview with the PennLive editorial board last week, calling her the most qualified person for the job.

“Somebody said, you know: ‘You’re going to be criticized for this.’ Kane said. “I said: ‘We will not give her a job because she’s my sister. But we won’t take one away either.’” … (more)

EDITOR: On the surface, a lot more qualified than Bobby Kennedy when his brother appointed him Attorney General. Jack’s defense was that his brother needed some experience.
