As yet another Republican governor caves, Pa. Gov. Corbett holds out on Medicaid expansion

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS:  … “I can’t recommend it at this time now knowing what the rules are,” he told The Patriot-News/PennLive editorial board on Wednesday.

As Corbett spoke, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced he will carry out the expansion — at least for three years beginning in 2014, when the federal government promises to cover the full cost. By 2020 and thereafter, the federal share will drop to 90 percent.

According to Politico, Scott said, “While the federal government is committed to paying 100 percent of the cost of new people in Medicaid, I cannot in good conscience deny the uninsured access to care.” He is the seventh Republican governor to accept the expansion… (more)

    Pennsylvania hospitals say there (sp) are spending nearly $1 billion per year to care for the uninsured and under-insured.
    We are already paying for these people! Theoretically there will be no additional cost. And if Obamacare taxes people without insurance what is the penalty???

    $100/year!!! That’s $100 they’re not paying for their health services now.

    I’m not sure who is opposing this plan but it shouldn’t be any Republican – it’s a fiscal improvement!
