Allyson Schwartz close to bid for Pa. governor

POLITICO: Schwartz, whose district includes parts of northern Philadelphia and suburban Montgomery County, was first elected in 2004. She has long been considered a strong potential candidate for statewide office, and Magnuson said the congresswoman has been receiving encouragement from around the state to run in the 2014 gubernatorial election.

She had more than $3 million in her campaign war chest as of the end of last year, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Schwartz, 64, holds a coveted seat on the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, where she has focused much of her time on health care issues, and she also serves on the Budget Committee…  (more)
