A disapproving registered Republican

The Republicans STILL don’t understand that Obama did not win the 2008 election — the Republicans LOST the election.

I would not have voted for such an inexperienced candidate as Obama, but he was far better than the elitist Republicans and their endless corporate welfare programs.

As for 2012, the Republicans did not have one viable candidate with any traction. Too bad, many Republican ideas are sound, but nothing will happen until they find a way to get in the game. I’m afraid (for them) that there aren’t enough rich people out there to win elections.

Signed – a registered Republican.

  1. Dear Registered Republican;

    I am against corporate welfare too but I can’t seem to reconcile what corporate welfare is Republican corp welfare and what is a Democratic corp welfare. Please enlighten us dummies.

    Signed a registered independent.

    PS: Thank you for voting for Mr. Obama.

  2. The downtown Lancaster hotel and convention center project is a prime example of the worst kind of corporate welfare. Unfortunately, powerful people of both major political parties got caught up in the hype and fantasy.

  3. What? I thought it was a public-private partnership to make the city of Lancaster a better place to live. Is it possible we have been lied too again?

  4. registered independent,

    Please enlighten us dummies. (your label, not mine). Ok….

    The difference between Republican and Democrat largess is that Democrats don’t claim to the be the party of small government and balanced budgets. Republicans (sadly) are capitalists in name only these days.

    Oh, and the other difference is that Republicans tend to reserve their welfare for Americans with income over $1 million/year.

  5. Dear Anonymous;

    I see little fiscal difference between Republicans and Democrats, and minus Obamacare (2009), I can find no federal social programs that lacked Republican support. Capitalism is not Republican or Democrat, it’s economic.

    After all why would one, regardless of their political affiliation, risk their personal wealth (capital) when one could get government backing thus almost guaranteeing a personally profitable venture (Solyndra, Lancaster convention center etc)?

    Thank you for setting me straight on Republican welfare tendencies toward millionaires. My research couldn’t substantiate your statement (maybe you can) but I did come across the Senators with the most wealth. They are: Jay Rockefeller, D, WV – 80 million, Dianne Feinstein, D, CA – 43 million, John Kerry, D, MA – 168 million, Frank Lautenberg, D, NJ – 48 Million, Mark Warner, D, VA – 72 million.
