Article “Washington Post ranks McCaskey among state’s ‘most challenging’ schools” relates:

“The national newspaper last month published its list,
‘America’s Most Challenging High Schools,’ which scores schools based on the number of students who attempt college-level exams.

“McCaskey High School in the School District of Lancaster ranked 20th on the listing of the most rigorous high schools in Pennsylvania.

“Paul Richer, McCaskey’s IB diploma coordinator, said that this year he’d scheduled 490 AP exams for 370 students and 590 IB tests for 277 students.

” ‘What you’re seeing now is second, third and fourth siblings. Kids now come to us in ninth grade knowing they’re going to do the IB diploma. … It’d be nice to have to close down both gyms [for testing] some day.’ ”

WATCHDOG: Although the School District of Lancaster has to contend with children from income, educationally and linguistically deprived backgrounds and a variety of cultures, it provide perhaps the best preparation of any county high school for those who are qualified for entrance into college . Much credit goes to Paul Richer who not only supervises the program but is always there for any student or parent seeking his help.

We experienced this first hand.
