Zogby Poll: Obama Opens Up 8-Point Lead Over Romney

NEWSMAX:  … Among likely voters, [President Barack] Obama now leads 49 percent to 41 percent; when leaners are factored in and minor party candidates are included, Obama’s lead widens to 9 points, 49 percent-40 percent, with 2 percent each voting for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party’s Dr. Jill Stein, and 1 percent for Constitution Party Virgil Goode.

Obama has a 14-point lead among independents (46 percent to 32 percent), 33 points among moderates (60 percent to 27 percent), 36 points among 18-29 year olds (65 percent-29 percent), 11 points among 30-49 year olds (48 percent to 37 percent), and is down among 50-64 year olds by only 2 points (45 percent-47 percent) and 3 points among voters over 65 (44 percent-47 percent). The president maintains his huge leads among Hispanics (68 percent to 26 percent) and African-American voters (93 percent-0 percent).

EDITOR:  A lot can change over the next five weeks.   But if these figures remain the same afte the first presidential debate, both parties will likely  turn their emphasis and money to the Congressional campaigns, assuming the presidential race has already been decided.
