NEWSMAX: Nearly 20 percent of all voters and 30 percent of Republicans do not believe President Barack Obama has proved he was born in the United States, even after he released his long-form birth certificate, a new IBOPE Zogby interactive survey finds.
IBOPE Zogby, based in Utica, N.Y., said 16 percent of all voters in the April 29-May 2 survey of 2,020 likely voters doubt that the president was born in the U.S.A. The survey was conducted after Obama released the birth certificate and addressed the news media on the topic.
Demographic groups besides Republicans expressing the highest levels of doubt about Obama’s birth in the U.S. are conservatives at 34 percent, and those without a college degree (21 percent) vs. those with a degree (11 percent)… (more)

This is just more evidence of what science is learning about the workings of the human brain: Beliefs are far less fact based and much more controlled by preconceived notions learned early in life from one’s family and friends.
As a political activist in the realm of drug policy reform and harm reduction, the Watchdog learned this the hard way. Current progress, as was the case in repealing alcohol prohibition in 1933, has as much to do with the bad economy than facts.
The pubic today is beginning to understand we simply can no longer afford to needlessly incarcerate people when 3.5% of the US population is in prison, on parole or under court supervision.
