Amber Green is Penn Manor’s newest school board member and, at 27, she has been told that she is the youngest member in the board’s history.
In 2010, the Manor Township mother of two found herself jockeying for a vacancy on the board after an advertisement for the spot caught her eye while checking out the district’s website for the first time. Green succeeded, beating out five or six other applicants.
Her youngest daughter was then just a baby. If fact, neither of her children are even old enough to attend Penn Manor schools, leading some to ask: Why run for school board?
