With Chuck Schummer , senator from Wall Street and Israel and Minority / Majority leader designate for the Democrats, undermining President Obama’s and Secretary of State Kerry’s Iran deal and misogynist, offish Donald Trump serving as a stereotype for all that is to be disliked about the Republican Party, here the question we pose at the outset of the week:
Would the parties be prepared to trade one for the other?
Trump will likely diminish the Republicans chance of retaining the Senate and winning the Presidency. But Schummer may bring about an avoidable war with Iran, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, and further setback to the US economy.
We read the New York Times front page article about how through coordination between Kurdish fighters in Syria and the U. S. Air Force, eight ISIS fighters were killed. Better that there was peace and the two sides played a soccer match.
