Would people marry without a sexual drive?

Perhaps you have to get way up in years to ponder such a question, but we suggest that, for many, the answer is yes.

Attraction between men and women is symbiotic… our natures complement one another. We suspect this is just as true among gay males and lesbians. Mates fulfill an emotional need as well as act as committed partners, even beyond child rearing.

This may be put to the test in another century, when women no longer bear the burden of carrying a child and there is little need for many men in order to create an adequate sperm bank.

Some years ago we hypothesized that future inhabitants of earth may be largely female. Male strength, aggressiveness and ego are increasingly out of place in our advancing industrial society. It no longer sounds like a ‘man’s world’ or even one that many of us would want to occupy.

So let’s appreciate and cling to one another while we can, with or without sex… because future generations may consider couples the way we view buggy whips.
