Wisconsin Supreme Court election: Republican, Democrat neck and neck

 CHICAGO TRIBUNE:  A normally humdrum Wisconsin judicial race that turned into a referendum on Republican Gov. Scott Walker‘s battle with public-employee unions remained virtually deadlocked Wednesday, with Democratic challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg ahead by little over 200 votes in an unofficial count of all precincts.

The Associated Press, which tracks the county-by-county returns, said it was rechecking to ensure its numbers matched those reported by local clerks. It has not called the race between Kloppenburg, an assistant attorney general, and Justice David Prosser, a Republican.

Political observers said the final margin will be so slim that a recount — the first statewide recount in two decades — is inevitable…  (more)
