Wis. DA Files Lawsuit Challenging Union Law

A Wisconsin prosecutor says Republican lawmakers violated the state’s open meetings law when they amended a contentious plan that bars most public employees from collective bargaining.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne made the allegations in a lawsuit Wednesday. It’s the second legal challenge from a county official since Republican Gov. Scott Walker signed the bill into law Friday.

Democrats in the Wisconsin Assembly say Republican leaders didn’t give enough public notice of a meeting during which Republicans stripped what they say were the fiscal provisions from the bill. That allowed Republicans to vote without Senate Democrats, who had fled the state to block the vote…
