Wine goes sour

TIMES-TRIBUNE:  Wine consumers should raise a toast, to Wegmans, for telling the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to remove its wine vending machines from the 10 Wegmans supermarkets in the state.

“The most weighty factor in our decision,” Wegmans said in a letter to the PLCB, “… is the significant volume of complaints that our store management is receiving about the kiosks on an ongoing basis. …. Unfortunately, the kiosks have not realized their potential, and in some ways have been a detriment to our stores.”

Frequent operating problems, low sales and customers’ rejection of the convoluted system contributed to the company’s decision…  (more)
