Why shouldn’t police use drones?

Going back over sixty years to our youth in what was then north-east Philadelphia, we recall foot patrolmen walking the neighborhoods and Fairmont Park Guards stationed in sheds every couple of blocks along Roosevelt Blvd.

So what is so much different between a foot policeman walking along the street (or a patrol car in current times) and a drone overhead?

What is important is protecting the privacy of the home. The courts have interpreted the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution to prohibit police from using devices to determine what is going on inside a house. The same would apply to drones.

  1. There is insufficient protection against government snooping. The law has not kept up and I point to Mr. Holders senate testimony yesterday. Here is what is needed.
