On July 15, an article “Brunswick could reopen as early as next week” quoted Brunswick part-owner Hamid Zahedi as saying, “The hotel’s owner said a new fire-alarm system won’t be working anytime soon, so he will turn the old one on temporarily so the hotel can open next week.”
WATCHDOG: The heading is somewhat misleading, considering that it is the Fire Officials, and not Zahedi, who will decide when the hotel is to reopen, and considering the number of other violations that have been cited.
Brunswick ownership would be well advised, now that the hotel has been closed, to use the next few weeks to correct all infractions. Then, upon reopening, they could arrange a ribbon cutting ceremony with City officials on hand. It would improve its local image, be reassuring to potential future guests, and, in the long run, be good for business.
