We’re about to close the book on Pa. environmental heritage

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS Op Ed…Journals and publications in the library were piling up and subscriptions have been canceled. Plans are being discussed to dismantle this library to make additional office and hearing room space in the Rachel Carson Building.

The move will be a one-time expense, which means there are no plans to reopen the library. Thus, it appears that the environmental heritage of Pennsylvania is going to get packed up and sent to a location outside the Rachel Carson Building.

This will prevent access to resources regarding coal, oil and gas, timber, state park development and environmental records on mineral rights, acid rain and environmental education. Information found in these cannot be found and are not available in other sources…  (more)
