REUTERS reports “Russia, China Veto Syria Resolution From UN Security Council” opens “and China vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution on Thursday that threatened Syrian authorities with sanctions if they did not halt violence against an uprising, thwarting Western hopes for tough action as the crisis in Syria escalates.”
In no place in the extended report does it explain the sanction to which Russia and China objected…the right to inject troops into the country to enforce the UN’s will.
A tip of the hat to the Russians and the Chinese. They aren’t about to authorize going down a very slippery slope. Weren’t Viet Nam, Iraq and the prolonged war in Afghanistan examples to be avoided?
