US jobless claims lift labour market hopes

Initial jobless claims went down 37,000 to 404,000 last week, the labour department said in the latest release of weekly ­figures. That was a steeper decrease than Wall Street analysts expected and brought the less volatile measure of the four-week average of claims down to 411,750…
