Ukraine protesters make deal to end Kiev city hall occupation

FINANCIAL TIMES: Ukraine’s anti-government protesters on Sunday ended a more than two-month occupation of Kiev’s city hall in response to an offer of an amnesty for hundreds of demonstrators detained since the unrest erupted in early December.

But the situation remained tense late into the afternoon, as hundreds of protesters brandishing bats and metal bars blockaded the building’s central entrance. Wearing military helmets and camouflage, they threatened to retake the building if the country’s general prosecutor did not immediately cancel more than 2,000 pending criminal cases against their colleagues.
