Tobacco companies expected to contest Pennsylvania’s settlement on payments

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE: The state Office of Attorney General expects several major tobacco companies will contest a Philadelphia judge’s ruling last week that restored about $120 million to a settlement for public health programs, First Deputy Attorney General Adrian King said.

“We would like them to do the decent and right thing and allow these funds to be paid,” King said.

For now, he said, he expects the companies will pay this month the $275 million that’s prescribed for 2014 under the decision by Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Patricia McInerney… (more)
