Nineteen participants were tested for HIV in April.

Total IDU contats: 301

Total unduplicated IDU contacts: 247

Condoms distributed: Male- 2368, Female-56, Dental Dams-54 Finger Cots-70

Demographics of unduplicated IDU contacts:

African American male: 36

White Male: 38

Latino: 65

African American female: 31

White female: 38

Latina: 39

We completed 291 referrals for various services.

This month, as a result of our 100 total D&A referrals, twelve participants entered into drug treatment facilities. This indicates those of whom we are aware; there may be additional entries of which we are not aware.

EDITOR: Isn’t it a tragedy that Lancaster General Hospital has turned down the Urban League’s proposal to operate a full fledged syringe exchange and referral program here in Lancaster?  Isn’t enhancing public health the mission of the public charity?  Have LGH trustees no shame?
