In his weekly column, Gil Smart opines “The conservative problem with government is not that it colludes with wealth and power against the best interests of the people, but that it shouldn’t be trying to serve the people in the first place; let the people take care of themselves.”
WATCHDOG: Smart’s problem is that he has been writing variations of the same column for a year and it is time for him to move on, do some research, and talk about some of the local problems facing the community. He may start with whether the best use of the publicly owned Lancaster General Hospital’s huge profits is to build a hospital in Ephrata.
