The author of a May 10 “Letter to the Editor” relates a scary experience from affixing his name to an earlier letter and suggests “I have no problem with your having my name on file, but I would like some shelter from the drunken crazies out there. Consider allowing ‘registered’ pen names. Bet you would get more interesting stuff.”

The Watchdog doubts that the Lancaster Newspapers would be prepared to open its printed pages to anonymous criticisms of its own shortcomings and those of other powerful member of the Lancaster establishment. As for potential letter authors, you had best have “go to hell money” and be reclusive if you are going to publicly criticize the business or government leadership in any small city and especially Lancaster.
