In his column Overrunning the trenches”, Associated Editor Gil Smart opines:

“Yet while some conservatives said they couldn’t stand OWS, others wrote to say — yes. Yes, their message does include things we can agree with. Yes, to split along the arbitrary red-blue line is to allow this house to be divided against itself. There is and must be common ground — because that’s the only way things will ever change.

“And so it was that economic blogger and author Karl Denninger posted video of Tea Partyers in New York City actually talking to OWS protesters. And I tell you what — I’ve had harsh words for Sarah Palin over the years, but she gave a speech in September where she ripped “corporate crony capitalism … the collusion of big government and big business and big finance to the detriment of all the rest.”

“That’s the ghost of William Jennings Bryan and economic populism bursting through the veneer of cultural populism that for so long has dominated her message. And that’s what OWS is about.”
