STARBUCKS: Successful mediocrity

We enjoy Starbuck coffee and, except for two or three occasions, have found it to be standardized throughout the system and throughout the day. (This has twice not been true when we were among the first customers.)

The extremely fattening pastries are another matter. If you are in Lancaster or other secondary markets they are just so-so.

If you are in New York City, it is another matter. Not only do they appear to be prepared and delivered daily, but they warm a croissant quickly in an over rather than ruin it in a microwave.

As we learned this morning, Washington DC apparently merits fresh pastry but then it is murdered in a microwave.

We keep waiting for the public to wake up to Starbucks low quality standards, paucity of heathy choices, and outrageous prices, but apparently there is a suspension of criticism and the public contentedly stands in long lines to be abused.

We too, but except in Manhattan we will pass on the pastries.
