Sestak, Toomey relentless in debate

PATRIOT-NEWS: The candidates vying for Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat sparred about the economy, health care reform, tax policy, Iran and abortion during a 60-minute matchup Wednesday night.

Dispersing personal accounts of family and work and military experience, Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Joe Sestak hammered away at each other’s policies and proposals — Toomey portraying his opponent as a party fringe liberal and Sestak assailing his rival as being interested only in Wall Street and not the average citizen.

Toomey accused Sestak of supporting out-of-control government spending and oversight, while Sestak countered that the former three-term Lehigh Valley congressman had “left behind the largest deficit and is now finger-pointing.” … (more)
