Sestak Public service involvement reaffirmed

From the TIMES-LEADER:

WILKES-BARRE – Outgoing U.S. Rep Joe Sestak greeted a crowd of approximately 25 people at Rodano’s on Public Square to keep a promise of visiting all 67 counties in the state. Luzerne was his 44th, said the former Navy admiral, looking casual wearing jeans, sneakers and a military jacket.

He touched on the repeal of the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” ban of homosexuals serving in the military, saying he supported lifting the ban.

The former military commander questioned the continuation of the war in Afghanistan as a means to eliminate al-Qaeda, which is in Pakistan. “I think they should forget about resurrecting Afghanistan. They’re corrupt and too inept,” he said.

And he commented on the state of politics.

“I also think the Hatfields and McCoys atmosphere has got to stop or at least be toned down,” he said. “Where I win you must lose, and then the other side does the same thing.”
