Senate to vote Wednesday on Kane ouster

PHILLY.COM:  In a pivotal moment for Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s political future, the state Senate is scheduled to vote Wednesday on whether she should be removed from office.

Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R., Jefferson) said senators will vote on whether Kane, whose law license was suspended after she was criminally charged last year, can continue effectively running her office.

EDITOR:  Note that there are two efforts going on re Kane in the state Legislature.  One in the senate is to unseat Kane through without a hearing by use of an obscure clause in the Constitution meant to be applied to low level, appointed officials.  The other in the Assembly is to commence the constitutionally appropriate impeach process which would call for a hearing in the Assembly and, if impeachment follows, then a trial in the Senate.

The first is a blatant attempt to gag Kane.   The second is an appropriate approach.
