Sarah Palin and her onetime fans on the right: It’s so over

WASHINGTON POST: Sarah Palin’s odd, rambling speech last weekend before an audience of committed conservative activists in Des Moines has many influential voices on the right saying that the time has come to acknowledge that the romance has gone cold and the marriage is dead.

This is despite the fact that the 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee told reporters upon her arrival at the event that she is “seriously interested” in running for president in 2016.

Her address was a 34 1/2 -minute roller coaster ride of cliches, non sequiturs and warmed-over grievances. One line that stood out: “GOP leaders, by the way, you know, ‘The Man,’ can only ride ya when your back is bent. So strengthen it. Then The Man can’t ride ya.”… (more)

EDITOR: It goes to show that, though it takes six years, Republican ideologues can on occasion recognize the obvious. Even more unsettling, this is the woman they would have made vice-president.

  1. I don’t know, I personally have always found Palin to be a shallow phoney but that pretty much reflects the rank and file of the GOP who support any of the empty suits they have running that party.

Also, I’d bet if you gave cognitive tests to the current Vice President Biden and Palin, and this isn’t saying much, I’d bet Palin would out perform him. Biden sounds organic when he speaks and I know he had brain surgery for cerebral hemorrhage.

EDITOR: Palin may have a high IQ. But she is simply abysmally ignorant, more so than most of her right wing Republic ideologues. Many people choose ignorance to support their predispositions. They live a counter factual life. Palin is just an extreme case of what we run into all the time. If you seek to bring about fact based change, reach out to college students.
