EDITOR: George Soros is one of the world’s foremost philanthropists and political activists. He deserves credit for, among many other accomplishment, introducing thousands of Xerox copying machines to the Soviet Union during the 1980s to facilitate political discussion and, upon the collapse of the Soviet Union, discouraging Russian atomic scientists from seeking employment in the Mid East by continuing their salaries until new arrangement could be made through the United States government and others.

He has also championed drug policy reform and harm reduction efforts. His Open Society Foundation has been a major contributor to democracy and public health in many parts of the word, especially in Eastern Europe.

Soros published articles and books warning against what turned out to be the financial crash of 2008.

Soros fled Hungary in his youth to escape the holocaust.
