Pew researched the chances of falling out of the middle class. The study which examined the risk up to 2007 — before the economic collapse — had some startling findings:
– Nearly a third of Americans who were part of the middle class as teenagers in the 1970s have fallen out of it as adults
– Middle-class blacks stood a 37 percent chance of falling out of the middle class (Hispanic differences were not statistically significant); Race was a factor among men, not women…
