Report: Ex-chair of Penn State board of trustees resigns

USA TODAY:  … Trustee Steve Garban had been criticized for how he handled news from university officials about the grand jury investigation and possible charges against the football team’s former defensive coordinator, the paper writes, citing “a source with knowledge of the situation.” He did not discuss the situation with the full board, according to the review conducted by former FBI director Louis Freeh.

Garban was also assailed for the late-night announcement in November that coach Joe Paterno was being fired, which touched off a student riot in State College.

In January, Garban and Vice Chairman John Surma decided not to run for their respective leadership positions….  (more)
