Real-time reporting OK’d for Sandusky court hearing Tuesday

USA TODAY:  Journalists covering Tuesday’s preliminary hearing for former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will be allowed to report the proceedings in real time, the local county court has decided.

Reversing an earlier decision, Centre County court officials today said reporters will be allowed to e-mail and send text and Twitter messages from inside the courtroom, the Associated Press reports. News organizations had argued that the restrictions would limit the journalists’ work and cited a previous case in which tweets were allowed, The Patriot-News notes.

No recording of the proceedings will be allowed, however…  (more)
