[In response to the Watchdog’s “INTELLIGENCER JOURNAL”]

NewsLanc’s] concept of eliminating all municipalities certainly has much merit.

I am thinking the best place to start is to determine the most efficiently run counties in the country and analyze their system and results. One could then compare this to our system which should reveal the potential cost savings.

    The most efficiently-run county in the country will turn out to be one with a population of 3000, where 2800 of the people are members of the same family, and everything gets done by volunteers instead of by paid labor.

    And I’m not sure that we really want the most efficient government. Will Rogers warned us to be glad we weren’t getting all the government we were paying for.
