Pull plug now on cable deal

SCRANTON TIMES-TRIBUNE Editorial: … [R]egional monopolies like those enjoyed by Time Warner and Comcast have harmed consumers, who have nowhere to turn as prices climb in an uncompetitive environment.

And that is only part of the story. If the acquisition is approved, Comcast will have about 30 million cable customers, plus millions more Internet and phone subscribers. It will be, by far, the largest cable provider, with about a third of the market. It will have extraordinary leverage for everything from hardware to intellectual property.
