Pennsylvania tax collections continue to lag behind projections

Harrisburg Patriot-News: The state’s revenue shortfall continued to grow last month, and now stands at $374 million for the budget year to date.

According to a report on January revenue collections released Monday, the state missed its estimates by $120.2 million, or 5.4 percent.

The bulk of the gap was attributable to a $51.7 million shortfall in personal income tax collections, and a $49.5 million shortfall in collections from the state’s 6 percent sales tax. Business taxes were only off $3.2 million as a category.
