Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett defends cautious investigation into Sandusky allegations

The length of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case, an investigation that began in early 2009, continues to dog Gov. Tom Corbett.

In an appearance before the Pennsylvania Press Club on Monday, Corbett was asked if steps could have been taken to have Sandusky arrested and off the Penn State University campus before this month.

Corbett launched the probe in March 2009, while he was state attorney general. He defended the time and steps taken — by the attorney general’s staff and his own actions after he became governor in January — as necessary to avoid jeopardizing a delicate criminal investigation…

EDITOR: We anticipate that Governor Corbett’s claim that he, then attorney general, was not aware of incidents at Penn State prior to 2009 will soon be repudiated.   From our experience with such matters, especially given the missing and presumed murdered Center County district attorney in 2005, we suspect Corbett was a major part of the Sandusky cover up…  if not worse.
