Pennsylvania Dutch Country Convention & Visitors Board membership and hospitality/tourism experience are mutually exclusive characteristics. I would cite F&M’s Keith Orris’ board chairmanship in support of that claim.
The reality is that the organization has become totally politicized and the real input offered to its dues paying members is next to nothing. Their board, which governs itself internally, hand selects their successors leaving those not part of the power structure on the outside looking in and/or booted off that same board as was the case with the Eden’s Peter Chicarrine…probably the sharpest hospitality mind in Lancaster County.
I like Kevin Fry but I do not see him as a hotel/tourism guy, he is a reactor, a businessman, and as qualified as any they have put on the LCCCA but does not satisfy my interest in seeing industry representation. Blaise Holzbauer was a step in the right direction except they would not let him cast a vote.
