Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor, has ended months of speculation by saying she will not seek the Republican nomination for next year’s presidential election.
Following the announcement by Chris Christie, New Jersey governor, on Tuesday, that he would also stay out, the move helped settle the Republican field after months of instability and uncertainty.
Ms Palin’s decision came as little surprise, as she had not prepared the ground for a late entry into the race and had no national organisation or fundraising base…
