Pace of Sandusky Inquiry Questioned

WALL STREET JOURNAL: ….Questions about the pace of the investigation have been raised by Penn State alumni groups and others. The Republican candidate for attorney general said he would review the investigation if elected. A September poll of Pennsylvania residents by Franklin & Marshall College found that 49% of respondents said the next attorney general should review the probe, compared with 42% who said it didn’t merit investigation….

Prosecutors allege the three men conspired to not report suspected child abuse by Mr. Sandusky, a former assistant football coach, in 2001, thereby endangering other children, and that they committed perjury in 2011 by lying to a grand jury about an alleged incident in a Penn State shower. All three men have maintained their innocence.

In a filing this month, Mr. Curley’s lawyer, Caroline Roberto, argued that former Penn State general counsel Cynthia Baldwin failed to advise him of his rights before he testified to the grand jury. She also argued that Ms. Baldwin had a conflict of interest and shouldn’t have represented Mr. Curley at all…  (more)
