PENN LIVE: Nearly 102,000 state and school retirees found an unexpected surprise in their bank accounts one day last week. Instead of finding their monthly annuity payments deposited in their accounts, they found two.
They were not the only ones who received duplicate payments. So did some vendors and the Pennsylvania Employee Benefits Trust Fund.
All together, Treasury mistakenly made 110,000 payments totaling more than $400 million before the error in its payment processing system was detected, said Treasury spokesman Doug Rohanna… (more)
