Pa. seems unwilling to probe impact of gas drilling

From the CHAMBERSBURG PUBLIC OPINION Editorial:

You might think that a top-level priority of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection would involve working with other regulatory agencies to make sure intensive natural gas shale drilling won’t adversely affect our public health and lands.

Particularly when one of those agencies is the federal Environmental Protection Agency which, by virtue of its remove from Pennsylvania politics and industry, might offer a more unbiased assessment of the issue…

Regulators everywhere are already five or six years behind the curve when it comes to shale fracturing for natural gas. Those on the federal level finally seem interested in catching up.

But here in Pennsylvania, officials seem to like where we are just fine…
