PA poll shows economy improving, but doesn’t credit Obama

LEHIGH VALLEY MORNING CALL:  …With seven months to go before the presidential election, Pennsylvanians see some improvement in the nation’s economy. They’re cautiously optimistic about their employment chances and pleased with their earning power, a new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College Quality of Life poll has found.

But as a reminder that Pennsylvania has not put the Great Recession behind it — even if it’s technically over — more than eight of 10 respondents rated the nation’s economy as not so good or poor, compared with fewer than two in 10 who gave it good or excellent marks.

Still, that was a 13-point swing from an August 2011 poll conducted during the height of the nation’s debt crisis, when nearly all respondents said the economy was not so good or poor. …  (more)
