Pa. fiscal condition lags behind most states

HARRISBURG PATARIOT-NEWS: … The George Mason University survey, based on fiscal 2012, examines states’ abilities to meet their financial obligations in the face of state budget challenges that have stretched beyond the national economic recession.

And in terms of having cash on-hand to meet state obligations in the near term, the Keystone State ranked 47th in the study just ahead of Connecticut, California, and Illinois.

In other study metrics, Pennsylvania ranked 37th in its ability to create revenue to cover it’s expenditures, 30th in its ability to use incoming revenue to cover its expenditures, and 26th in having the state resources to provide resident services… (more)
