‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests test left’s determination

Kazin now says the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement has energized the left and given it new hope. “It’s like we were waiting for Godot,” he says, “and Godot actually showed up.”

And then spread across the nation, raising hopes on the left of a movement to counter the Tea Party and to incite what Van Jones, an activist and former White House aide, calls “an American Autumn.”..  (more)

 EDITOR:   President Barack Obama was left almost be himself to resist the ultra-conservative onslaught.  The messages of noted historians and economics were being largel ignored by the population.   Now suddenly the young are coming to the rescue, strengthening his positions and giving heart and political credibilitly to his efforts.  Nevertheless, the loud voices of the young may not be sufficient to drown out the whispers of the big political donors.
